Delete your Decal account

Last updated: 28 September 2026

This page explains how to delete your Decal account, whether you use the Decal app for iOS and Android or the decal.ink website: it is the same account. It sets out what is erased, what is kept, and for how long.

In the Decal app

  • Open the Decal app and sign in to the account you want to delete.
  • Go to Settings, then tap Delete my account.
  • Confirm twice. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone, and you are signed out.

Without the app

The website does not offer a delete button yet. Write to hello@decal.ink from the email address of the Google or Apple account you sign in with, asking for your account to be deleted. This is how we check that the request comes from the account holder. We handle the request within one month at most.

What is deleted

  • your identity: name, email address, and profile picture
  • the gender and country you declared
  • the status of your Premium subscription
  • the links to your Google or Apple account, and all your open sessions
  • the blocks you set, and those that targeted you

A subscription taken on the website (through Stripe) is cancelled automatically when the account is deleted.

What is kept, and for how long

Some data does not disappear with the account, because it is needed to enforce the rules. The deleted account no longer holds a name, an email address, or a picture: it remains in anonymised form, with no time limit, to carry the following.

  • Suspension history (number of suspensions, dates): with no time limit, to prevent a banned account from coming back. An ongoing suspension (reason, severity, capture, end date) is kept for as long as it is active.
  • Keyed hash of your email address: with no time limit. It cannot be turned back into the address; it only lets us recognise a new sign up during an ongoing suspension.
  • Age declaration (date, IP address, and browser at sign up): with no time limit, because it is what justifies opening the account.
  • Reports you made or received: for as long as they are pending, then ninety days after they were made. Attached captures are erased after thirty days, except the one behind a suspension, kept for as long as the suspension is active.
  • Moderation signals (reports received, automatically detected nudity, people leaving a conversation with you immediately): ninety days.
  • Suspension appeals sent from the app: with no time limit.
  • Streamer mode consent records: 180 days.

Invoices and payment details are kept by Stripe, Apple, or Google, under their own rules; on our side, the Stripe customer ID is erased with the account.

The details are in our privacy policy.

Subscriptions taken in the app

Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription taken in the app. It is managed by Apple or Google: cancel it yourself in the App Store settings (Settings, your name, Subscriptions) or in Google Play (Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions), otherwise you will keep being charged.
